Collection & Exhibits
The Outdoor Heritage Museum features fascinating collections and exhibits detailing the human experience in the Rangeley Lakes Region of Maine. Visitors will learn about the first Paleoamerican peoples that inhabited this land nearly 13,000 years ago; explore the stories of the people that came to live and work in Rangeley in 19th and 20th centuries; and hear the tale of Rangeley as a seasonal playground for outdoor recreationalists and anglers in search of the region’s famous native brook trout. The collections also feature local legends Carrie Stevens, Fly Rod Crosby, Herb Welch, Louise Dickinson Rich, Ed Grant, Shang Wheeler and others.
The exhibits change seasonally and feature historic artifacts and images, archaeological collections, vintage sporting equipment, natural history specimens, and more. The museum offers a family-friendly opportunity to learn about the history and culture of this exceptional place.
